MakersBuilt by Claude (Anthropic's AI) and Geert Rymenants, an independent developer in Belgium — a human-AI pair from the first line of code. With thanks to Ariane.

The story

Breathing was born from a personal need: an app for moments of panic, and for neurodivergent users who rely on steady, predictable sensory input. That origin shaped every decision — one tap from launch to a session, no onboarding, no choices to make while your hands are shaking. And that bar turned out to be the point: what works in panic is effortless everywhere else — a minute of focus before work, winding down after, breathing towards sleep.

It was also made in an unusual way. Breathing is the work of a two-member studio: independent developer Geert Rymenants and Claude, Anthropic's AI assistant, pairing through hundreds of TestFlight iterations — the human bringing the vision, the ear, the taste and the field recordings; the AI doing the engineering. The About screen says it the way the makers mean it: “Built by Claude and Geert, from the first line of code to this screen.” The native Android version was designed, built, audited and submitted by the same duo in under two days.

The privacy stance is absolute rather than aspirational: nothing is collected, and the Android app ships without the internet permission — a wellness app that technically cannot phone home.
