Coherent breathing
Equal inhale and exhale, no holds, around five to six breaths per minute — the cadence where heart and breath fall into step.

How it works
Heart/coherent breathing uses equal inhale and exhale with little or no holds, often around ~5–6 breaths/min. This tends to maximize cardiorespiratory synchrony, raise HRV, and support calm alertness. Functional imaging at slower rates (~5.5 bpm) shows modulation in brainstem and cortical networks involved in interoception and autonomic control.
